| | Had to cut mileage short because I had work...but it's ok because some lady asked me to pretend to be Elsa for her little girl while I was lifeguarding so it was worth it. Anyway, it was tempo today and I already woke up not feeling the best, so by the middle of the tempo I was kinda dying, I ended up averaging a 6:24 for the whole tempo run...can't say I'm happy with that, I'll just have to keep working harder until I can get where I want to be.
| |
| | High mileage for the first time this season felt ok...I didn't want to run by myself so I took Koda...shoutout to the fuzzy lil guy for sticking with me the whole time, haha he was super tired by the end. I held an average pace of 7:45 counting my slower warm-up, and I felt pretty good the whole time...my legs were a little tired from the tempo yesterday but overall it was good....didn't feel good at all after but during I felt awesome
| |
| | Felt pretty good today, still kinda getting over how awful I felt after saturday's run, but we held a 8:07/mile pace so that was a good recovery. We ended up grass running at skyridge for a bit, it was so nice there! Basically we decided the infield grass is a fluffy green pillow...with the occasional mushroom growing in it...anyway, it was fantastic. Kneaders after was also pretty great, shoutout to Watson for only getting an orange juice and a peach smoothie, which thoroughly confused our waitress...and myself for that matter.
| | Today's run was really good, shoutout to Gan for pushing the pace the whole time! I felt ok, which is great considering we went way faster than I did on saturday and I'm not dead now. Warm up mile was around nine minutes, after that we held a solid 7:31/mile for the remaining 8 miles. And we didn't see the Frankenstein duck at the park after so that's also a bonus.
| |
| | The provo river trail was a wee bit chilly this morning, but it was still super pretty. It was also just a low mileage recovery day so that was way nice, my legs were pretty tired from yesterday and the 8:18/mile pace was very much needed. Did the usual abs and hips after, then made everyone french toast at Gan's...and I had to set up a jump for my car after that so shoutout to Rachel for letting me use her car's battery.
| |
| | "Easy" run pace today, After a slow mile warm up at dry creek we hit the rail trail. My splits for the rest of our low mileage went like this: 7:35, 7:33, 7:09, 7:02 so it was a pretty solid run....if you couldn't tell, it was slightly uphill out and downhill coming back. Shoutout to Gan for sticking with me and pushing the pace
| | Well, my morning was crazy, so as I finally headed out on my run at 6pm, it was a balmy 93 degrees....don't worry, I checked the central bank sign when it flashed the time and temperature. Anyway, I ran from my house down to the legacy center and did three miles on the tiny indoor track there...still can't decide if the 24 laps was worth the AC...then ran the toasty two miles back home for a grand total of seven. I averaged a 7:40/mile despite the fact I crossed the road each time I saw sprinklers, and I felt good.
| | First day of byu xc camp. Did a 2 mile tempo run/race and held 6:15/mile, which placed me in the second group so that was quality.
| | Fartleks today really pushed me, but I liked them. The last two were a little rough to hang on, but I made it so it's all good.
| | Trail running today up at camp was pretty quality...and hot. But the stewart falls run was way fun and pretty so that made up for the heat.
| | Team race today for the last day of camp...my legs were so dead. Ended up only holding a 6:21/mile so that was really rough. Cooling down was pretty rough too. But I think I'm a little more used to the heat, so that's good.
| | My. Legs. Are. Dead.
Thank heaven for recovery runs.
| | First time running 11 miles, so that was sick. My legs were still a little rough heading out but they loosened up and we ended up negative splitting the whole run...Warm up mile was an 8:54 and last mile was a 7:11 so that was great. Hit kneaders after for some quality recovery food...well actually mostly because it's Brynlee's birthday, so shoutout to her! That's right boys, she can date now.
| |
| | Well we did the kicker today and I got a pr...my legs still felt wrecked from camp, but I also improved by 15 seconds so not sure how that works...the grass at skyridge after the kicker was quality and we said hi to Jhoan even though he's a potato.
| | Recovery day after the kicker, held a nice 8min/mile pace.
| | Felt pretty good about the 6min test today, I clocked in at 5:36 for a mile and I was feeling fine...I was able to kick in an extra 130m before my 6mins were up. So pretty much I could've done better but I wasn't used to that kind of speed. Oh well. Shoutout to Saltboy for making Mr. Corbett ask me if I would plan his funeral because he killed it.
| |
| | Recovery run today, my legs finally weren't so stiff by the last three or four miles. Ended up holding an average pace of 7:59min/mile after a struggle of a warm up and first mile or so. Gotta look forward to that steady state tomorrow...
| | Steady state run felt good today, even with the heat of late start practice. My group did a 3.5 mile run for our steady state, and I held a 6:33/mile...so not quite where I want to be but I'm closer. Just finished up mileage and did the usual hips and abs after
| | Well, my watch wouln't turn on this moring and the only person I had to run with today was Ty...who doesn't have a watch but shoutout to him for running with me anyway. So we just hit the MCT starting at highland glenn park, because I knew the turnaround point for a nine mile run out there. So I'm 99% sure I got in 9 miles, and we held a good pace, so we're gonna call it good. I gotta get my watch fixed though...

| Race: |
Temple to temple 5k (2.96 Miles) 00:18:15 | | Really fun course even if the distance was a bit off. Having the first mile downhill definitely helped...if only I could get that time on an official course sometime this season. I guess we'll see. Felt totally fine the whole race, probably could've even pushed it more. Cooled down with the team by doing the course backwards....I then proceeded to die after the cooldown and spent the whole rest of the day sick. Wahoo.
| | Still not feeling 100% after running myself sick for the second time this month. Cut down the mileage a bit (I'd gone over yesterday anyway) and had Kaylee lead me like a blind woman when it was too sunny...I'd just close my eyes and hold her ponytail so the light wouldn't bother me and trigger another migraine...the things we do to keep running...
| | The warm up mile turned into a steeple chase thanks to the sprinklers, and the rest of the run was just "easy" pace. Chilled with the second group of guys today because Waston and Gan have abandoned me, and we held a solid 7:30/mile so that was nice, it definitely got me feeling ready for the skyrim tomorrow. Shoutout to Baby Eastmond for being my running buddy today!
| |
| | Pretty sure the skyrim workout we did today is my new favorite. Held the 600s pretty consistent, my splits were 2:07, 2:07, 2:06, 2:06, 2:03, 2:02...which isn't bad considering the hill at the start. I was in the second group of boys, but I was feeling really good during the workout, so I ended up leading the group for all the sets besides one, so that was cool. Cooled down with the guys on the grass and did the usual abs and hips after.
Peg 33s Miles: 4.25 | Bare Feet Miles: 2.75 |
| |
| | Just a recovery run, I chilled with the second group of guys again. Pretty toasty with the late start, but we still held a nice 7:44/mile, so not bad considering how sore I am from the skyrim.
| | Watson and I were up bright and early this morning, but after melting in the heat yesterday, running at 6am felt really nice. The legs were pretty stiff from the last couple days, so it was definitely recovery pace at 8:06/mile. Just the usual abs and hips after.
| | Run today was pretty uneventful. Legs still not feeling the greatest, so definitely took advantage of the recovery with a 8:18/mile pace. Hopefully I won't be feeling so wrecked by wednesday....because I need to get wrecked again at camp. If I don't blog tomorrow it's because I melted in the heat thanks to practices being at 1:00 in the afternoon. Wish me luck.
| |
| | I'm sure you're all thrilled to know I'm not a puddle on the sidewalk...though I may or may not admit today was the sweatiest I've ever been.Gotta love that 1:00 practice time. It was just another low recovery run; we headed out to Lehi High and got a drink, then hit main street for a bit before heading back to the park for a much needed ice bath. Feeling better today than the last few runs, I held a 7:51/mile AP. Shoutout to the little lizard that ran next to me on the sidewalk for a bit...I think he was tryna race me, and he put up a good fight, but don't worry...I still won.
| |
| | First day of camp was great! I can't say the out and back (more like up and down) was my favorite kind of run....especially with the sideache....but the trail was way pretty and it's just so nice to run somewhere different. Nothing too crazy, had an 8:07/mile AP so that was good, overall it was a solid day
| | Day two of camp was so fun, I love the Deer Creek trail. I also felt considerably better than yesterday. Jamie gave us paces for the last third of our run (the rest was recovery) and I had a super great last three miles. Splits for the whole day went: 8:19, 8:15, 8:12, 8:25, 8:16, 8:28, 7:50, 7:21, 7:04
| | Well day three of camp was a sucess, despite the blister. We went and hit a super great trail out in Park City that is flat for what seems like forever. Jamie definitely pushed me with her whole negative split plan, but it was way good and it felt awesome to work hard. The first half was all recovery pace, held a nice easy 8:24/mile for that, and then hammered out the miles back negative split style with 8:00, 7:41, 7:31, 7:08, 7:00 mile splits.
| | Much needed recovery run today, held a 8:02/mile AP, nothing more to report on
| |
| | "easy" run today. Held a 7:25 AP
| | another "easy" pace day. Legs were feeling tired from the day before, 7:39 AP
| | Ran the race course for tomorrow....kinda. I had to leave early because of work. Mentally I feel ready for the race tomorrow but my legs are pretty tired. And I'm captain of the orange team with Mike so that's cool
| Race: |
Skyridge team race (3.1 Miles) 00:19:13, Place in age division: 1 | | Well it was the team race today....Can't say I was happy with my time. I know it's the beginning of the season, and I wasn't in the best spot physically since I'm a bit sick, but I thought I could for sure at least break 19. I've got quite the game of catch-up to play if I'm going to get back to where I was last season.
| |
| | Coach called a team wide cross train day, so I went and swam for 45 minutes. I can't believe I used to be able to do way harder workouts for 2 hours... haha I'm so weak in the pool now. I fear I might be developing a serious case of runner arms...which means they barely exist.
| | Didn't feel like waking up at 6am to run with the girls (sorry) so I got out on the MCT around 9:00. It was a nice recovery run...kinda....7:49 AP. The three main things that happened on my run: 1) For reasons unknown to me, I had the christmasy music from polar express stuck in my head...I was thinking about hot chocolate in the middle of august while running in 70 degree weather and I don't even know how that happened. 2) I passed a guy that looked so much like Matt Damon I almost asked him if they were siblings. 3) Some biker guy gave me a high five as we headed down opposite sides of the trail, so shoutout to him.
| | Did 10 mins of abs and hips before practice, then headed down to the park. Easy mile wu then over to the jr high for some grass pickups. I wasn't expecting my legs to feel too great with the speed, but after the first two, the pickups actually felt pretty good. Not quite sure how fast of a pace the pickups were at due to some technical difficulties, but they were at least at 6min/mile pace. Cooled down and did 15 mins of extra abs with the girls, so call me an overachiever
The Zealots Miles: 3.50 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.50 |
| | Well it was an 'easy' pace day and really hot....so I had to run myself into a migraine...again. This is starting to get really annoying, I need to figure out the main cause for these because I keep thinking I've fixed it and then I'll get another one. Went home right after the run as soon as I started seeing spots and proceeded to be a dead person in bed the rest of the day. Wahoo.
| | Still not feeling 100% after dying yesterday, but I got some polarized sunglasses to at least keep the sun out of my eyes, they were still pretty sensitive to light. Pre meet went ok for how I was feeling, it was actually a bit quick at around a 2:57. Finished up mileage and ice bathed.
The Zealots Miles: 3.50 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.50 |
| Race: |
Highland Invite (2.9 Miles) 00:17:46, Place in age division: 4 | | I honestly was still not feeling the best before the race. Waited around because I raced last, and I started really getting in my own head and focusing on how I'd been sick and I still wasn't feeling 100%. Luckily I caught that pretty early on and went and listened to my mental tape...which really helped switch my mindset even if I wasn't all there physically. Wrote my trigger phrase on my wrist, listened to pump up music, warmed up a mile, and headed to the line with my trusty chocolate flavored gu in hand. Start was good, a bit quick...but since when is that actually a problem? Stuck on Sarah Musselman and just let the mental tape take over. I don't remember being so calm and confident in a race since I pr'd in the mile at BYU. I had 3rd place locked in the last quarter mile, but I lost it to Sarah's kick...better work for next time because I don't exactly believe in luck. So overall it was great start to the season, but I still have a lot of room to improve. Cooldown was miserable, I've never felt so horrible after a race...but I've never raced that fast so that's probably why. Felt about as sick all night as my race was.
| |
| | To sum it up, I'm pretty sure dead men have felt better running than I did today...and I've got an 8:45 average pace to prove it
| | Well I didn't want to get up before the sun, and I had work from 7-10 so I decided I'd drive to the Provo river trail for some shade and hopefully some cooler temperatures. First mile I felt like lead, but that's still better than how I felt all of yesterday so wahoo. Just slowly racked up the miles and took a good recovery pace going up the trail, compensated my pace on the way back down and ended up with a 8:19 average pace...so considering I barely feel like walking right now, I'd call that success.
| | Well, school is here. Wahoo. We did the kicker today, which I actually felt really mentally strong on, even if my legs were still a bit wrecked. I think my last race definitely broke down some tough mental barriers that have been up for a year or more...I never realized how much I was limiting myself just because I thought I wasn't supposed to be racing next to someone faster than me. Got a new PR of 9:42. The cooldown was...rough. I felt like I was churning wet cement instead of running on pavement. My calves were super tight, and my right Achillies started being pulled a bit by that, but hopefully some ice and rolling out will fix it. Also my wonderful father ran over all my left toes with a truck on sunday so those guys hurt a bit too. But we got some free and icy cold water bottles at Smiths so shoutout to them.
| |
| | Well it was the "tri-meet" today...even though it turns out all three teams were treating it like a tempo. My calves were still super tight and I was nervous about my achillies, so shoutout to Kaylee for rolling me out. I tried warming up two miles and it felt tight but not too concerning, so I decided to race...but I forgot my watch so also shoutout to Saltboy for letting me borrow his watch. First mile was around 6:40-6:35 and I think the second mile was around 6:20 or so...haha I didn't have my watch. But I got the semi-hollow victory of winning everyone's tempo workout so wahoo. Cooled down two more miles and I could feel my calves tightening a lot, so I didn't go nine. Iced for a long time after.
| |
| | I was not motivated at all as we headed out on high recovery today...but we ended up not going down the gully and we did a quality mile grass run at a park 3.5 miles out so I ended up liking our route a lot. My calves were still just so tight...I don't know why they aren't loosening up. But at least they didn't bother my achillies so wahoo. Shoutout to Saltboy for rolling me out/torturing me after the run. Ice bathed and I'm going to roll out again so hopefully my calves will be feeling a bit better tomorrow.
The Zealots Miles: 7.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 2.00 |
| |
| | FINALLY dropped down to low mileage, which felt really nice. Although it was 'easy' pace...but it actually wasn't too bad, held a 7:24/mile ap so we were well within our range. Hit the splashpad on the way back so that was nice, did abs and hips in the bike room. Shoutout to Saltboy for rolling me out....my calves defninitely still had some knots in them even if they didn't feel as tight today. Had a good icebath after and I'm getting kinda pumped for grass relays.
| |
| | Just low recovery before the race. 8:10/mile ap. And shoutout to Saltboy because #streak.
| Race: |
Grass Relays (2 Miles) 00:12:04, Place in age division: 5 | | Didn't quite feel as mentally strong going into this race as I did at highland...I think I was so focused on trying to find that midset again that I forced it too much and lost it. My time was decent for the hay bales, and I got us into 4th place, though I was quite a bit farther from 3rd than I wanted to be...I should've been able to stick with her. Didn't get full mileage in because I was trying to not get fired so that's a win. Shoutout to saltboy because he raced hecka fast for being injured.
Peg 33s Miles: 1.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.00 |
| | Speed workout today was 2(3x 90 second hill sprints)...ok Jamie said it was at 5k pace but trying to keep that up a hill is basically sprinting. My legs are so wrecked from grass relays...I did still try to work on my kick, since that seems to be my weakest point in my races. Felt pretty dead tired between the heat, my legs, and the hills, so I took the rest of my mileage really slow. Abs, hips, and ice bath after.
Peg 33s Miles: 6.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.00 |
| | Well for some reason we did a ton of hills today, and by the time we got back to skyridge the back of my right knee hurt really bad. I went and talked to Jamie and she said it was prolly my hamstrings or quads and to stop running for the day, so I went and biked. Abs and hips after plus a painful time on the foam roller, but I thnk I'm getting somewhere with the knot I found in my lower quad.
| Race: |
Pre-region (3.1 Miles) 00:19:30, Place overall: 9 | | I was a bit nervous to race on my leg, but I think I rolled out enough yesterday because it felt ok. First two miles were at tempo pace with a 6:27 first mile and 6:39 second mile, then I really opened it up the last mile with a 6:04. Knee and quads both still feel good. Forgot to stop my watch though so idk what my time was, and I was too busy cooling down to see where I placed so wahoo.
| | Legs were pretty tired, and the rest of the girls wanted a semi-cross train day so I did that with them. Ran 3 on the road, did a grass mile by myself while I waited for more bikes to open up, and then finished with a bike workout. My quads were really painful to roll out after, but I made sure I kept at it for 20mins. Abs and hips, then off to my last day of work so wahoo for that.
The Zealots Miles: 3.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 4.00 |
| | Nailed pre meet today with a 3:02, my legs felt a bit tired but much better than yesterday. Finished up mileage nice and easy...forgot my watch though so that was sad. Did abs and hips after, then rolled out and ice bathed.
| Race: |
BYU Autumn Invite (3.1 Miles) 00:18:34, Place overall: 3 | | Race today went really well, even though I was a bit sick. I stuck with Kate Hunter and the girl from springville (smh I forgot her name) for the first 2.5 miles, then Kate started gapping and springville tried to go with her and I was kinda dying but I didn't let springville get too far. Overall I'm satisfied with the race, it was a good pr and it hurt, but I just need to work on that last half mile, as usual. Shoutout to the girls for winning second overall, they're the greatest.
The Zealots Miles: 6.50 | Bare Feet Miles: 0.50 |
| |
| | Well I ran with the USU team today, and they seem pretty great. Got a good 7 miles and some abs in before the migraine hit. Stayed in bed the rest of the day so that sucked.
| | Luckily I felt good enough to run this morning,..but not good enough for the workout, so Jamie said I'll be doing it tomorrow. Wahoo. Took it nice and easy at a 8:45/mile ap. Logan is a bit cold but it honestly just felt so nice, plus it's gorgeous, so totally worth the chilly air. Touring the campus was awesome today and even though I was sick, I still really enjoyed it up here. I was genuiniely sad to leave.
| | So...I mostly did the workout by myself...shoutout to Gill for pacing me. It was supposed to be 6x1,000 at goal 5k pace (5:40-6:00) straight into a 200 jog followed by a 200 sprint to finish one set...but I thanks to my cold I couldn't breathe, so Jamie only had me do 5. I stayed within the range, leaning towards the faster end until the last one...it was so hard to stay mentally strong, I kinda lost it today. Cool down after was rough, the inside of my left leg felt really tight...it still does, even after an ice bath and I'm going to roll it out, hopefully that'll help.
| |
| | high distance recovery. legs felt pretty dead from yesterday, but pre meet went ok
| Race: |
murray cross invite (2.9 Miles) 00:17:34, Place overall: 13 | | Race today wasn't quite what I wanted. Time was still decent, but I know I could've placed better if my legs had felt fresher.
| |
| | Watched Riley qualify for boston this morning, so shoutout to him. After Gan and I went on a solid run, felt pretty good.
The Zealots Miles: 8.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.00 |
| |
| | whistle hills today felt pretty good...well they were hard of course, but it was a good workout. Tried to really work on my kick. Cooled down after. Did abs, rolled out, and ice bathed.
| | Been feeling a bit headachy all day, so I opted to swap my recovery days and I'm going to do the kicker tomorrow. Took it easy and did the usual abs, roll out, and ice bath after.
| | Felt really strong today. I was just focused on the task and I wasn't afraid to push the pace even though I was alone. I pr'd by 18 seconds with a 9:24, which is a massive improvement. Cooled down and did abs, hips, roll out, and ice bath after.
| |
| | Went a bit over mileage with the mile repeat workout but that's fine. Felt good despite doing the kicker yesterday. Mile splits as follows: 6:05, 5:56, 5:47, 5:43. I wish I could've gone a bit faster on the last one, but at least I still got faster and not slower so wahoo. Half mile cooldown after and the usual abs, hips, and ice.
| | Recovery run today felt nice. 8:27/mile ap. Abs, hips, and ice
| | Well, last day of awesome week. I'd say the ladders on the hill went good, seeing that my 400 and 500 splits got a little faster each time around. Breakfast after was much needed, and the rest of the day was fantastic thanks to xc homecoming!
| | After a really stressful day, I decided the best course of action would be to drive up the canyon and take it out on the trails. Hit the trail just off of tibblefork, and started going up. The colors were fantastic, but the trail was a lot steeper than I remembered. It also didn't help I heard the occasional rustling in the trees to my left and right. I could only put up with the never ending incline and my bearanoia for about 1.5 miles before turning back around. In case you were wondering, the rustling was a buck that stared at me for a few minutes while I stared at his sharp little antlers until he bounced away. Once I was off of that trail and still needing 4 miles, I headed up another (and much more open) trail/dirt road. Ran two miles up, then back down, and took an ice bath in a chilly mountain spring whilst trout swam about my toes. Overall, I'd say it was a success.
| |
| | Fist day at Weber was pretty great, we ran to a pond with a trail around it that they'd marked every 100 on, so that made it pretty convenient to do speed changes. Felt pretty good, it was just super hot. And the only way to get up to the park was a lot of hills so my legs didn't really like that after yesterday. Ran with Michelle from Idaho and cheered on Aubrey and Ali from Davis, so that was sick, plus I didn't even get eaten by one of the hundreds of geese at the pond so I'm calling today a success.
| | Even though it was just low mileage, my legs felt like lead. Definitely struggled to finish the run today, I think all the hills kinda killed me...but I finished and my legs only felt like 500 pounds each instead of a 1,000 by the end so wahoo. Not even gonna say my ap cuz it was sad.
| | Running with the girls again was so nice! Shoutout to them for being the best running buddies and listening to my college decision struggles. Legs still weren't feeling the best, but I managed to finish my mileage before school got out and I finished my test so that's a win
| |
| | Up here at Bob Firman! Pre run of the course was great, I've always liked it. Pre meet felt good, my legs were just a bit tired but that's good considering how wrecked they felt a few days ago. I'm just hyped/nervous for tomorrow.
| Race: |
Bob Firman Invitational (3.17 Miles) 00:18:07, Place overall: 6 | | Race today was spectacular. After some jitters on the start line...which I got out goofing around with the girls (thank goodness they didn't think I was too crazy and just went along with me) I felt really mentally strong the whole time. I finally felt like I had a good kick too! Got myself into 6th place by the end of the race and I almost got my season goal of 17:59.
Peg 33s Miles: 3.28 | Nike Zoom Spikes Miles: 3.17 |
| | Forgot my watch but I know I at least ran 7 miles and it was recovery pace, but probably a bit on the fast end of recovery. Right hamstring felt pretty tight the whole time.
| |
| | Did the 6 minute test today, and I got about 45m further than last time so that was good, especially with how tired my legs were feeling. My right hamstring was super tight after so I did a mile on the grass and that loosened it up so I went back out on the road to finish up. Abs after...and I'm really missing ice bathing. R.I.P. to the spring of living waters.

| | Legs were feeling a bit rough today but I still got my splits down in the workout so that was good. Workout was a 200, 400 at mile pace, 800, 1600, 800 at goal 5k, then 400, 200 at mile again. Felt super dead after, but I was luckily able to survive a cooldown. Abs and ice after.

The Zealots Miles: 6.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.00 |
| | Pre-meet was ok, my legs were just super tired. High mileage after was pretty rough, but it was cloudy and slightly rainy so that was a win.

Springville invite (3.1 Miles) 00:18:55, Place overall: 2 | | Legs were basically wrecked. Mentally I felt ok, I just had to make myself not really care how far ahead of me Juile was and keep telling myself that I can catch her in races that matter (sorry Julie) shoutout to her for winning by a whole bunch. Mentally I felt ok, I was just determined to stay in 2nd and I did. Pretty sure I could barely walk after so don't ask how I ran five more miles after the race...because I honestly have no idea.
| | Fly high run high. It was dark (and very early) when we started, but the sunrise was so amazing! It was one of those moments I really wished I had a camera. Did 6 miles on the MCT, then went to kneaders and met up with Sami my fuzzy lil guy and Mario (shoutout to them cuz I love 'em) for three more miles. My eternal apologies to Team She for whimping out of the french toast eating contest...but a migraine was threatening to show up and all that sugar wasn't helping. Shoutout to Gan and Watson for surpassing my previous bets on how much they could eat...and my condolences to Chuck's stomach and Matt Todd's french toast record.

| | If you didn't know, Idaho State has a very large, very old, very creepy cemetary exactly .75 miles from campus. I was out doing a warm up for the speed workout and I dared myself to run in the cemetary since I was already running by it anyway. Luckily I finished my 2 mile warm up without being attacked by zombies. Hit the ISU track and had a decent speed workout. My 5x400 at 5k pace were very consistent with my splits ranging from 1:24-1:25, the next 3x400 at 2 mile pace were solid ranging from 1:15-1:19, and the last 2x400 weren't quite mile speed at 1:14 and 1:12...I just wasn't used to that pace and I couldn't seem to get my legs around fast enough. Cooled down with a super cool girl named Corbin. Shoutout to ISU for being awesome.
| | Medium mileage with the girls. Mile speed changes felt good, only a little stiff from yesterday. The rest of the run was solid, just cruised through the miles. Shoutout to Saltboy for being able to run again, he's hecka fast.
| | I'm happy to announce that none of us were attacked by clowns on the trail as the girls and I did an easy low mileage run. I did, however, get splashed multiple times by the infamous puddle jumpers (Gan and Mario) so pretty much I'd almost prefer the clowns.
| |
| | Pre-meet felt ok, legs are a little tired but not bad. Wahoo for low mileage and fall weather.

Regionals (3 Miles) 00:17:45, Place overall: 2 | | I'm not sure what to think about this race. I wasn't in a great place mentally heading in. I'm still happy with my place and ok with my time, but I know I could've done better. In the moment everything just seemed to hurt more than usual...my legs felt more tired at the 2 mile mark, I felt like chucking a half mile out, and I just wasn't able reach that focused zone I was able to find at Bob Firman. I finished much farther behind Kate Hunter (shoutout to her for winning) than I have in previous races. But I'm overall satisfied I guess. Shoutout to the girls because we're going to STATE!

| | I miss old Lehi. We ran one of our usual routes from the good ol' days and it was great. The weather was a perfect fall crisp. My legs felt way better than they should for racing region yesterday though. But we're still going to state (wahoo!) so I guess I should be grateful we're going and I can head into this week not wrecked.
| | 'Easy' pace run today. I forgot my watch (smh @ me) so I don't know my exact average pace, but probably somewhere in the 7:30-7:40 range so it was all good. I felt ok, not great but not bad. End of term and state coming up has got me stressing out, but it'll be ok once it's all over. Abs and hips (Gan made me do hips for my 1%)
| | Recovery run. I felt a little rough the whole time, I just never found that rhythm I normally fall into--my legs felt too stiff. But it was recovery so it didn't matter too much. Abs and rolling out after.
| | Whistle hills definitely pushed me, but it was the las speedworkout before state so wahoo. Recovery run after was good, I brought back red leaves for everyone. Shoutout to Saltboy for not dying.
| |
| | Low recovery run. Felt pretty good. I found some sick leaves.
| |
| | Low recovery run. My legs felt quite a bit more tired than they did yesterday, but it's all good. Abs, hips, and roll out after
| | Met with the state team in the morning and did some quality speed changes. Felt really good and smooth, just getting pumped for state. Abs and hips after. Shoutout to my mom for buying the chocolate milk I discovered once I got home.
| | One below low for STATE! Abs and hips after
| | Pre-meet went ok. Did a mile after on the grass and called it good. Ice bath after was definitely chilly.

State Championships (3 Miles) 00:18:05, Place overall: 3 | | I wanted top three. So that's what I got. Went into state feeling pretty relaxed, did the normal warm up and headed over to the line. Stuck with Kate Hunter and Julie the first two miles. Kate went the last mile, I tried to stay with her and Julie kinda fell back...until the last half mile in which she passed me and Kate so shoutout to her. Outkicked some girl tryna steal my 3rd place spot and proceeded to die. Still feeling wrecked but happy. Shoutout to the girls because we took fourth and they're all hecka fast, I love 'em all. And shoutout to the boys for taking fifth because they killed it for the circumstances they've been under. Basically I love my team.

Peg 33s Miles: 2.40 | Nike Zoom Spikes Miles: 3.00 |
| |
| | Short recovery run with Gan and Brynlee. Shoutout to them for listening to my college decision making dilemmas. Abs after.
| | Ran with Brynlee, Gan, Dallin, and Collin today after the ACT. It was a solid run, nothing much else to report.
Peg 33s Miles: 1.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.50 |
| | Well I experienced the jail trail for the first time today so wahoo for that. After I hiked to silver lake with some of the team and it was so cold we ended up running down a lot of the trail. (I won)
| | My back has been super tight the last few days. Hit the MCT to smiths anyway and did a mile below low just to be safe...and to make it to my wisdom teeth consultation on time. Wahoo.
| | just a low recovery run...legs were pretty dead.
| | Legs felt a little better today. Did a grass run last mile, abs after.
The Zealots Miles: 4.00 | Bare Feet Miles: 1.00 |
| | Well...I ran in the morning during college day because I now have my wisdom teeth out...wahoo.
| | If you see a chipmunk on your run today, it's probably me.
Jk I can't run. kms.
| | bike workout, nothing crazy
| | Tough day on the bikes. RIP to my legs.
| |
| | I got to go a whole two miles. Finished the rest of my mileage on the bikes.
| | Got to go 4 miles out of 7. Felt pretty good. Finished on bikes.
| | 'Race' today was really cold. Wasn't quite feeling myself yet, but Jamie had me tempo it so it's fine. Still got a medal so wahoo.
Peg 33s Miles: 2.00 | Nike Zoom Spikes Miles: 3.00 |
| | Well Jamie wasn't there to tell me how far to go so...I just tried to do all of my regular high mileage. First seven felt pretty good til the last bit, I felt my right achilles tighening up and it felt kinda funny/painful...but I was only 2 miles away from full mileage so I thought some grass running would help...but it still hurt and got worse after a mile so I stopped. Also shoutout to Saltboy for signing to ISU, he's hecka fast and I love that kid.
| |
| | Warm up mile had my achillies/soleus complaining a bit...but I went into the workout anyway and it left. Felt like I was back to my normal self as far as speed goes, I nailed all my times on the ladder (200@800 pace, 400@mile pace, 800@2mile, 1600@5k, then back down) I felt like my kick the last 200 was really strong and overall it was a solid workout...I was fighting the strange urge to chuck the whole time though so that was different...normally that doesn't happen til the end. Anyway, started the cooldown feeling alright, but by the last mile it had digressed into double sideaches, a creaky knee, and a screaming soleus so I stopped at 7 even though I was hoping for at least 8. Smh. Finished on the bikes..I promise I'll do abs.
| |
| | yep. I ran a whole mile. Finshed mileage on the bikes. Abs after.
| | Well I found out several things today: my pegasus 33s have officially died, it is indeed possible to roll out for more than an hour, Skyridge highschool is approximately .69 miles to run around, and I now know exactly what the driving range looks like. I was scared my soleus would act up too much while I was out on a trail, so I pretty much did all my mileage around the skyridge campus...thrilling, let me tell you...but honestly I'm just so glad I made it all 7 miles without anything alarming enough to force me to stop. Hoping it will feel even better tomorrow.
P.s.
I signed to USU today so I guess it's official or something
| |
| | Felt pretty good during the hill ladders today, it just built some good confindence. Soleus was pretty much normal the whole time so that's fantastic. Cooled down with Watson, then did abs and rolled out after. Went and got new shoes after that so that's a win!
| |
| | hit the Jordan river trail and had a runderful adventure with Gandalf and Watsonhood whilst riding upon my new Pegasus.
| | low mileage on the MCT, knees felt a bit achy but other than that it was runderful
| | speed changes, feeling pretty good
| | We almost got eaten by a bird and I got sand in my new shoes, but we're in arizona so it's ok
| | running the course and pre meet felt good. I also got my pegasus signed by Lagat so that's sick.

NXR (3.1 Miles) 00:18:47, Place overall: 31 | | Well, where do I begin?...I blew up. Completely. Here I was in Arizona and I actually thought I'd have a shot, if only a slight one, at qualifying for nationals. I don't know if it was in my legs or my mind or maybe both, but something was so off. I felt like I was running through molasses. All I could think about was how I needed to be going faster than I was, but I couldn't. I was wrecked after I finished even though I got my slowest time of the season and I got beaten by girls that haven't been able to touch me all year. To sum it up, I sucked. But I can't be too mad about it...for long, at least. I can't expect myself to race my best all the time, even if I really want to...and even when it really counts. But hey, the trip was still fun. I still have amazing team mates and coaches...I even still found the fuzziest blanket of my life in a Wal-Mart around 11:00 at night. Am I happy with my race? Nope. But I guess I'm not gonna stop racing or running so I might as well get over it.

| | Super freezing run up suncrest today with Gan, Watson, and Brynlee. The new watch is sick, and I was grateful for my new fuzzy headband...I think my ears wouldn't be here now without it. 8:19ap, 179 cadence. Did the upper body weight workout, abs, and hips at home with my dad afterwards.
| | The run was super freezing today, but it was with my favorite people so that made it ok. 8:08 ap, 179 cadence. Abs and hips at home after.
| | Good run today with the girls and dallin. Felt pretty good today with a 7:51 ap. 187 cadence. Lifted after with the fam, then did abs and hips.
| | Solid run at 7:55 ap and 183 cadence. Abs after were good.
| | Shoutout to Gan for being a true pal and getting up early to run with me. It was a good five miles in which we talked about Arcadia, almost slipped on ice multiple times, and comiserated with the poor ducks and their one little spot of unfrozen pond. Drove up to Utah State with the fam and got to see my future home, then came back to Lehi and lifted/did abs/did hips before dinner.
| |
| | Solid run in the fog today with Gan and Mario...we all got frosty eyelashes and hair, so I think we made a new basic fashion statement. Liked the new shoes so shoutout to Saltboy for those. 7:56 ap, 185 spm cadence.
